Partnering with Meals on Wheels California

We are proud to partner with Meals on Wheels California (MOWCA), a state-level organization dedicated to helping local Meals on Wheels programs drive better outcomes for the older adults we serve. MOWCA works to broaden and amplify the impact of its member organizations by facilitating strategic connections, building relationships with key legislators, and maintaining a time-saving resource library. But MOWCA is no ordinary state association. It has been a pioneering force, distinguished by a series of notable firsts.

California was the first to establish a statewide Meals on Wheels association and proudly celebrates its tenth year. MOWCA is also the first to commit to full-time staff positions—a significant investment in a national landscape where such state-level associations are rare.

In 2022, MOWCA secured $40 million in first-of-its-kind senior nutrition infrastructure funding. Between 2021 and 2023, MOWCA also drove an increase of $75 million in funding for state senior nutrition.

As our Executive Director, who also serves as the current Treasurer for MOWCA, notes: “Investing in the success and growth of the state association is a win for every senior nutrition program in California. The wider the reach of MOWCA, the greater the impact we can all achieve. For that to be possible, the diverse voices of older adults from every corner of the state need to be heard, represented, and cared for.”

This powerful collaboration translates into tangible wins for our older neighbors, ensuring that they may thrive in the communities they call home.
