Welcoming Meg-Monique Roe: A Passionate Advocate for Seniors Joins Our Board of Directors
We are delighted to announce the addition of Meg-Monique Roe to the SOS Meals on Wheels Board of Directors. With an impressive career dedicated to serving older adults, Meg brings both professional expertise and genuine passion to SOS.
Meg’s journey in senior services began after a successful career in healthcare and hospitality, when she made the meaningful decision to transition to nonprofit work. “I fell in love with the senior space,” she recalls of her career change.
This passion led her to hands-on experience in assisted living and continuing care retirement communities, where she served in administrative roles, followed by nearly four years with Eden Affordable Housing, whose mission included providing housing and services for low-income seniors. Her diverse background also includes time at a home-care agency, an experience she describes as “very educational” in understanding the daily challenges facing older adults.
Today, Meg operates her own consulting business—she is a certified fiduciary, specializing in supporting geriatric care managers and financial professionals serving vulnerable seniors. “My goal is to work collaboratively with others in this field,” she explains, emphasizing her desire to help those who are doing critical work to help aging adults live well and as independently as possible.
A longtime supporter of our mission, Meg has watched us evolve over the years. “I attended the pre-kitchen construction tour at SOS, so I’ve been around for a long time,” she shares. “It’s been incredible to see the organization grow from its modest beginnings to the impactful institution it is today.”
Her previous board service with Meals on Wheels Alameda County, Canine Companions for Independence and The Volunteer Center of Alameda County provides valuable governance experience as we navigate today’s challenging funding environment.
Meg’s dual focus on nutrition and wellbeing aligns perfectly with our work. “I’m particularly passionate about the meals and wellness checks SOS provides,” she notes. “These services are truly life-changing for homebound seniors.”
Please join us in giving Meg a warm welcome to our leadership team!
