Honoring the East Bay Foundation on Aging
We’re ever grateful for the partnership of the East Bay Foundation on Aging (EBFA), a supported organization of East Bay Community Foundation. EBFA recently renewed its support of SOS by committing a grant of $35,000 for the coming year. With a mission focused on enhancing the physical and emotional well-being of older Oaklanders, EBFA backs organizations that tackle a range of issues facing seniors in our community.
EBFA has deep roots in our community. It was founded in 2009 with the proceeds from the sale of the historic Matilda Brown Home for Elderly Women in Oakland. This landmark institution had been operated by The Ladies’ Home Society of Oakland for 135 years. The Society sold the facility after its closure and created this grantmaking entity to ensure and continue the legacy of service to seniors.
Beyond helping to address food insecurity and driving healthy outcomes for our older neighbors, the $727,500 in grants the foundation made last year supported housing challenges, social equity issues, and general advocacy. The dedication of community partners like EBFA is tremendously important to the well-being of our communities. Thank you, EBFA, for all you do!
